Hello & Welcome to "You Can't Stop This Dancer" the official website
Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.
William James
Spinal cord injury (SCI)- is an insult to the spinal cord resulting in a chane, either temporary or permanent, in its normal motor, sensory, or automatic function. The International Standards for Neurological and Functional Classification of Spinal Cord Injury is a widely accepted system describing the level and extent of injury based on a systematic motor and sensory examination of neurologic function.
LIfe (cf. biota)- is a characteristic that distingushes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes (i.e., living organisms) from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased (death), or else because they lack such functions and are classified as inanimate. Biology is the science concerned with the study of life.
Hope- is the emotional state, the opposite of which despair, which promotes the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. It is the "feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best" or that act of "looking forward to with desire and reasonable confidence" or "feeling that something desired may happen." Other definitions are to "cherish a desire with anticipation;" "to desire with expectation of obtainment;" or "to expect with confidence." In the English language that word can be used as either a noun or a verb, although hope as a concept has a similar meaning in either use.
WHAT NOW?
Suffering a SCI is something no one can predict. However, once you've experienced an SCI life as you know it, is now changed forever. So what now? Does your life stop? The dreams you had, are they now lost? The answer is up to you, but I say, no. Now is YOUR time. Time to piece together the steps (yes, steps) you're going to take to move forward for YOU.
You had an accident, yes, though taking steps toward your recovery and your life means ACCEPTANCE of what has happened. That is where the results stem from.
WHO AM I?
I'm Nicole and I'm in the business of HOPE. Allow me to not only help, but ensure a method of moving you forward in your recovery and in life, that you will be able to attain and achieve. It's easy to throw in the towel and live in the past filled with regret. Though, it never helps, nor does it fix anything.
I was told, after my accident that I would never be able to dance again. In the hospital and still today, I say, "You can't stop this dancer!"
